Ellie Davies

Ellie Davies explores the psychological relationship between individuals and the space they occupy.

She uses a long-format to create a dream-like sense of menace. By joining together individual shots to create a panorama, Ellie Davies 'After Dark' series uses the frame as a stage, to depict a person and their imaginary self. Her technique explores how the real and fantasy can be combined to produce work that has a voyeuristic quality.
Ellie Davies has got me thinking outside the box, or frame as it were! Photographs don't have to be a uniform rectangular shape where deciding whether to have it in either landscape or portrait form is the limit to creativity. I will try to look for opportunities where I can experiment with the size and shape of the frame and how I can play around with the space within it.
